The winter season in Roanoke is marked by a few special traditions that might be common knowledge to Roanokers, but hidden to newcomers. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll highlight some of these traditions starting with Fashions for Evergreen at the historic Hotel Roanoke.
Fashions for Evergreen 2022 will feature more than 25 trees throughout the historic property dressed in whimsical and outlandish displays to elegant and traditional designs. The event is sponsored by United Way of Roanoke Valley and The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center as a fundraiser for the many opportunities that UWRV brings to the community.
Come celebrate the season, assist neighbors in need and build a better community together. This event is free and open to the public. The public is being asked to vote monetarily in any amount (only U.S. currency and checks accepted with as little as a penny) and at the end of the public voting, the tree that raises the most money will be declared the winner of the People's Choice Award.
The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center is located at 110 Shenandoah NE in downtown Roanoke. The event kicks off on Thursday, November 24th at 6AM and is open to the public through Sunday, January 1st at 10PM. The Hotel Roanoke features The Pine Room, 1882 Lobby Bar, STEAM Coffee & Eatery, and the famous Regency Room; as well as a spa and holiday getaway packages.
