It's time for Pumpkin Spice everything and that includes all sorts of awesome autumn activities around the Roanoke Valley, but what about sunflowers? Yes! It's time for the annual Beaver Dam Farm Sunflowers Festival, too!
Beaver Dam Farm was a family owned and operated working dairy farm from 1927 until 2019. In the summer of 2015 the farm planted sunflowers to see how they would grow. After harvested, they were bagged for birdseed. 2016 marked the first annual sunflower festival which has become the first and largest sunflower festival and vendor show on the East coast! With two back to back weekends of over 600,000 sunflowers, handmade crafters, food vendors, live music and events throughout the week; the festival has seen up to 20,000 visitors per year.
